「的矢」は、関西では楊弓場（ようきゅうじょう）、関東で矢場（やば）といわれ、祭礼の立つ日の庭場や遊郭で出店や夜店として、弓矢を使い的に当て、的の位置や種類により、商品や賞金が振舞われた。 また客が弓矢を楽しむ横からの矢の回収は危険であることから、関東の的屋の間で、危ない場所を矢場（やば）と言う様になり、危ない事を「矢場い・やばい」と表現し、隠語として使用した。この「やばい」という隠語は的屋を中心に堅気でない者の間に広まり、昭和40年前後には当時の若者に広まった言葉である[1]。
